There are many ways to skin cats (if you go in for such things - This blog is strictly against it). If you've talked to or read stuff from other players, even highfalutin' pros and D.M.A. degree holders, you will find there are many disagreements about the clarinet and saxophone playing. This can become extreme: friendships sundered, rivalries developed, and some fairly nasty interchanges between people.
What I write is based on my own experience and observations over 63 years of playing and teaching. Unless there is empirical, repeatable evidence (not untested opinion) refuting what I throw out to you guys, please cut me slack and don't get the idea that I'm writing some sort of manifesto. I have no interest in badgering anyone to accept what I write.
You're free to do as you please, and I won't resent it. However, I do welcome your questions, discussions, and general feedback!
I don't spend a lot of time proofreading. Forgive me if I make a typo or grammar gaff. Until Buffet Crampon decides to sponsor this blog, I'm with Samuel Johnson, who said, "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." So I'm a blockhead, and blockheads are careless and make mistakes.
That's all for now.
